4 Snacking Tips for Busy People

The number one excuse I hear when people tell me why they don’t eat well is “I don’t have time to eat healthy.” I think the Dali Lama said it best when he was asked what surprises him most about humanity. He replied “Man sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.” Here are four tips I have been using that have helped me through a sugar detox. If I can do it with my limited diet, ANYONE can do it! 

      • 1 Routine. When treats become a routine it is a tough cycle to break. Take a look at your routine (whether it is a conscious routine or not) and make changes where you see fit. You don’t need any crazy plan to make small routine changes. Try this mantra- say it to yourself over and over “make good choices” instead of our typical mantra “F it.” Buying seeds, nuts, and fruit for the week instead of rushing to QuickTrip or Starbucks for snacks can make all the difference. You will have good routine habits in no time.

Teaching Bully Prevention Techniques

Did you know October is National Bully Prevention Month? I didn’t even know that was a thing until my child’s PRESCHOOL sent us an announcement about it. Really…preschool. Kids are already being bullied in baby school. Once we found out about this, my husband Thomas Williams – our Jiu Jitsu instructor – asked if he could talk to the school about bullies, bully prevention, and even stranger danger awareness. As we have been doing this we have noticed a few things that parents should keep in mind.
